On May 25, 2012, on the initiative of the National Commission of UNESCO of Kyrgyzstan, an introductory meeting was held with the UNESCO representatives of Central Asian countries, Japan and South Korea and the staff of Aigine CRC. At the meeting, employees of Aigine CRC presented the results of the center’s projects on preserving and transmitting the epic and traditional musical heritage to younger generations.
The guests were also able to listen to live excerpts from the “Manas” epic, performed by Zamira Bajalieva, Saykal Abylkasymovoy Nurbeka Talantbek uulu, after which the meeting continued in a question-and-answer format. The guests from foreign countries were impressed by the legend of Manas and asked many questions about the internal perception and sensation of Manas and manaschys, on the duration of the legend and the epic’s role and place in the Kyrgyz’s daily life.
